So because I was bored after awhile of making the new portfolio page- which is most likely still unfinished while your reading this, I decided to look through the archives on my hard drive for the site.

What I found was a few projects, ideas, and well designs which I never knew existed, or thought was deleted long ago.

1# – Project 3 Points

First one is a little episodic animation series from a few years back. Called 3-Points, the idea was to focus on the 3 points of the world, past, present and future and then mush them together into short animation series.

The best way to describe what the project would of been, is to post what was written on the “creative” side of Trinest.Com which I had up back then which was a live section on a hidden / folder with all the range of random projects I was workin…I mean I’m rambling now.

“3-points isn’t about gaming, its about the repeditive tasks which humans have developed in life.”

“The small series of animations aims to show ’3 points’, a caveman era, modern era and future.”

“These points of life all have one thing in common.”

“The repeditive, ironic, annoying tasks, which still exist.”

“3-points aims to lol people with its takes of the same scenario in 3 points.”

Well if that wasn’t enough, it appeared that if successful I would continue and make more random animated crap. Well good for me that I didn’t even start it ay?

We do however have an episode guide, which contained random titles and blurbs on what each episode would be about. Season 1 consisted of 13 episodes. 10 – 12 would be final for the series, it even had a title of “Solving Problems”. After this final, there was to be a 13 episode which was a montage about evolution. Episodes 5 – 9 had both TBA titles and blurbs. There was to be a preview with just the opening which contained and exclusive clip. Episode 1 would kick off as “Nerd Games” and be about Video Games during the 3 points. The next episode would be about pets, then the third about jobs and then the 4th about invention ideas.

2# – Tamworth Floods

Based around the ideas that hicks who come to Tamworth pretty much sleep on the edge of the river then get flushed away, a failed project- and designed to be a more humor based approach was called Tamworth Floods.

If there was any project which was to be a dud project, it would be Tamworth Floods (though not reconised on the Project Page). Heck though while not documented, there was a huge project plan for to turn it into a full on website, with stuff like weather alerts and things like that- oh and simulations, lots and lots of simulations of floods!

Though at the end of the day what was made, is a website which features a background from a quick Google search of “water”, a navigation bar which uses one from one of my past websites, and a quick and nasty “web 2.0″ logo.

3# – Comics

There be comics on trinest.com once upon a time, though probably not that funny, and quite boring at times- relying on quick puns, and horrible special editions and poor taste jokes. Though it does exist, and the good news is most of them are copied to the wordpress blog (search the archives) or you can check them out on the domain (one of the only projects still online). Probably the high point of the comic was…well I’ll let you decide. (*cough*)

4# – Frogs

Some sort of fanistation with the little slimy criders, you have seen my latest youtube video of the little green frog, well learn where it started- right here and right now!

When I was in the 4th Grade as you Americans put it, I was lapping up the girls and all the kids in my class by drawing frogs. The design was based off a cement frog which I got a market in Newcastle. Anyway the point is I drew these little buggers, they where kind of like random things like “king Frog” or “Sword Frog” or “Red Frog” stuff like that- so I copied those ideas from back then and remade them a few years back. And best of all- you can now check it out on Deviant Art! so (*cough*).

5# – Video Game Scouting Website

I spouse its about time to reveal this idea of mine, and the fact that after some careful consideration this website idea would never function in the real world. Because of lots of legal stuff- and because in the end no one would probably agree to this idea.

The idea originates from around 2007 – 2008 so its a quite old idea, from around the time trinest.com was made.

The idea was that video game fans and enthusists could come up with ideas and then post them on a website, video game developers and publishers would then scout the said site, find the awesome ideas and then make them/or hire the person or- iddno.

From my little knowladge from back then I have found a little paragraph which tries to explain it- but now I’m more confused then ever.

- Users can post ideas based from questions we ask to avoid copywright problems.

- Aims to put users into gaming design/director postions.

- Shows the industry how users manipluate ideas (which sees if its a worth while investment from there end on that user).

Err….

2004…

2009…

6 years ago…in March I started a website using Geocities (thanks Yahoo Profiles for the exact date- now I can’t calm it was in 2003- those bastards!). For those who didn’t get the news Geocities is going the way of the dinosaurs now.

And while the original layouts and designs I have made which used Publisher to be developed are long gone- and the blank pages with affiliate links and a topsites as well. What is left on my Geocities account does hold lots of old remnants of a site once gone. A era and decade which now no longer exists.

From random mp3/midi files to images and websites today I’m sharing what has always been kept secret for many of a year.

29 January 2006 & November 2005 – CareyKid Designs; the completion of one of the best designs I have ever spirited was uploaded to Yahoo Geocities this day. (For some reason there is an extra version which was updated on the; 18 December 2007). 2006 I didn’t know much about designs to a point- but with people insisting I make some table designs and me not knowing how to make tabled designs from images- I created a few designs which used images and then got a friend to code them.

He went at that time by Careykid and developed Another Code Labs v.10 and another design which was used as a HTML design (which then got converted to iGaming CMS).

Another Code Labs v.10 (click the image to view the coded design)

Another Code Labs iGaming Era (click the image to view the coded design)

The inspiration for v.10 came from the original theme which was developed for a forum software called NextBBS. At the time I admired the forums software and most of all the colours and how the theme worked. I wanted to encapsulate that into my website- so I used the same colour pallet and designed the layout using sprites.

The iGaming CMS era was in November 2005. This layout was made before v.10. If my memory served me correct v.10 was the return to HTML while the design from November was used for iGaming CMS (this didn’t take off as well as I hopped for my type of site).

There’s no doubt that CK has done probably a few other designs for me. But these are the only ones which I have left. A shame- as slowly the  history of my older sites are disappearing- but what I do have left is a good start to show people what was once there.

In 2009 I no longer have all the original files which Another Code Labs used- meaning I don’t have any of the original content. I do have access to see some via internet achieves- but that doesn’t extend the greatest parts of the site.

These designs where made in the prime time of Another Code Labs- visits from around the globe and everyone enjoying what we had to offer. It evolved into something which started going down hill just after ACLv.10- a real shame, but we did get visits from the developers who I hope where impressed, but now if you look at Another Code Labs- what has become of it- the resource that once stood has become a mini site which doesn’t deserve anything it gets.

It’s a real shame to see what my original site had become- but while most people remember me for that….Geocities shines something onto that statement which makes people go “huh- oh yeah DS sites before that”. Yes its time to see one of those DS sites- in a way back style which doesn’t come back.

August 2004 – DS Like; Do you like the Nintendo DS? I do! Yes while that wasn’t the snatchy catch phrase which I should of used to advertise my site- my 2nd Nintendo DS Site (DS_Network (1st) – DS Like (2nd) – Aussie DS (3rd) – Aussie DS never took of the ground). It was hosted on that domain- why? Because DS_Network failed in a big hump- the original hosting service I used used disappeared, so I went back to my Geocities account to create DS Like durring my spare time.

This little baby also had two designs- the later which I’m going to show you – with the code. Was a free layout which I found. The original? Yes it was a CK design.

Once again it was based of something I wanted to see- via an Image and then he coded it up. What was the first DS Like Layout? Well in real fact it was the second layout. You see the original “prototype” website for DS Like- was called DS Style.

DS Like v.1 (DS Style) (click the image to view bigger image)

Ah the original design was so “icky” but it dam well provided that information it had. Showing user information (how many users online, homepage button, add to favourites button) – wow you don’t see those features anymore in web 2.0, it also featured some random fanfics I wrote/some random chick wrote.

While the new layout requested people to make a banner with “DS Style” it turns out that name was going to disappear- using the same information and resources I’ve collected – DS Like formed from the ashes of the prototype DS Style.

DS Like v.2 (click the image to view the yahoo geocities page- please note this may not work in the coming months)

But all good things must come to an end- before I shoved the Another Code Labs v.10 design on the domain- users going to the site would find index.htm- this page featured the following message:

Well the time has come for Ds_Style to close , we had a great time with the affiliates and top sites we were members of but , I have come to the decision to close the site. After 6 Months from Harvest Moon to Ds Information we covered for you now the only remains are the fanfic’s  , Ds news and the forum community. This time with the affiliates wont be misted I shore had a great time maintaining a site with information on the Nintendo ds , but as I said a time comes in a sites life to close its doors and move on in life all affiliates plz remove the link , if you still keep the link plz give notification to your viewers we have closed. You may still see me working for other sites or helping out with others in need of information but this is the last big site "I" am going to run i may work for a big site in the furture but for now its good by plz join the forum or go to the idea site or news blog.

Wow! To think I used to use the internet like a fucking idiot (aka how Kieren types on his site/msn).

DS Like v.3 (Dual Idea) (click the image to view a bigger image)

The site didn’t end there- all the old information found itself on another Geocities website about the Nintendo DS later on (god knows when this happened) wait I think this happened soon after DS Like closed- wait maybe it happened when Aussie-DS closed :/

It’s a shame; It is a shame that the hosting on this site didn’t offer more secrets and clues to my webmaster past. It seems it wasn’t as smooth as I always said- and for the most part- its a dam shame the Aussie-DS design which was coded for me no longer is on that site. Because that was dam one hell of a web design. Also DS_Network/Aussie-DS pages no longer exist- I don’t think they ever where on this page- but its a dam shame they didn’t. Also it would of been nice with some of the original designs/uses for the geocities page.

We started this project awhile ago, our first responce was we couldn’t find a ubisoft email for America, or Europe for that matter – basically where it counted we couldn’t contact anyone who was involved with Ubi-Art store so we went looking to our Australian brotheren for an email- which we found and we emailed the Sydney Support Center.

What we wanted was a rabbid doll which was like the Homestar runner doll the cheat- which when you kick it- it would make a noice- we wanted the simular for a rabbid doll so when you kick it – it would go "BAAAAHH".

I coined this idea with my brother who was quite insistant that it was awesome- suprised it didn’t exist and what more said he would buy one.

Say the above is my idea in its completed form. Would you buy it? I pitched this idea before- not to Nintendo but to a group of people on my own personal blog a few years ago, back then I shoved in a phone into the idea and had the idea of "download games from mobile careers to the device" as one of the features. Something similar to Nintendo’s VC which back then was just starting out. With my limited number of people who visit my blog it is hard to come and say "yes this will sell" but for my blog the people who did come where impressed, some said no- but most agreed that if such a device existed they would buy it- even more people saying "if you build it- I’ll buy it" which was quite an interesting complement.

The idea to put it is a device which can play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games- something which is now neglected and will be in the future in a possible DS VC.

But you raise the question- if there is a VC- why make a handheld?

  • There are still people who do not own a Nintendo DS and the new Nintendo DSi (also people who don’t see the need of upgrading)
  • If this has mp3 ability- people want something slick they can shove in their pocket and listen to music and if needed play games
  • The DS is pretty bulky to be used as a general entertainment machine (mp3 for example)
  • The slick and stylish vision which people will relate to this product is something which will sell it

Now those may not be solid reasons- in fact I don’t think they are- but the fact is the idea is a solid idea.

Lets just go over some of the "features" in this idea.

  • Sleek design
  • Plays GB/GBC games
  • mp3 support via mini SD card
  • mp3 player
  • Traditional GB button pad
  • Battery pack (charge via USB)
  • Back Lit Screen

Now if this device had a phone some optional features would be:

  • download VC games via phone carrier
  • use phone credit to buy Nintendo Points to buy VC games!

And over all because it is a Nintendo Device in this decade:

  • copy your DSi VC GB/GBC games to this device (if such a feature (DS VC) is planned)

Also something which I was thinking about is most gamers have games which the battery has died or is dying meaning what if this device could download the save/copy to the game etc. when playing- that would really improve. Heck what about download pokemon saves off the cart and then putting them into the VC pokemon games? And then use that save to compial a pokemon collection which users can download and use on any pokemon game?

The fact that this device just keeps creating ideas and visions with games so old and so respected to games from that generation is the reason why I think this will sell.

A few years ago I made my first Google Browser mock up- the original wasn’t in the best of shape, but it did get people thinking. When I released my second series of mock-ups- it made people believe and got Google thinking- there is now a real Google browser- how much did I get right and how much did Google evolve?

It turns out I got nothing right when I predicted the Google Browser with my mock-ups, only the fact that it could display WebPages and that would be just about it.

Chrome was built around different principles and ideas which they implemented differently to how I did in my concept. Google had the strict idea of making browsing easier and less bulky. They removed most of the unnecessary features which the bigger browsers had and compacted the navigation area down to a few small lines. Giving the user much more space to view their WebPages.

And this dam right gives exactly what they wanted. Viewing my website while testing it in a range of web browsers I noticed one major difference, Google’s Chrome gave me much more room to play around with vertically then the other browsers before you had to start scrolling.

The browser also featured other features which made the experience more streamlined. When it came to what my concept showed- it was a much different story.

The above image is what I preposed- a web browser which was centred around Google’s features, I never included tabs in my concept, my concept included the idea that people could insert their favourite applications into an application bar which click launched them into the browser. In this example I have Gmail on the bar already. On the right hand side is the button which users can customize that bar.

It also had another feature which never showed up when Google did actually invent their own browser. My fake concept above which got people believing in a possible Google browser was built around the time that Google Talk was getting popular- I thought why not include the Gmail Browser version in the browser- allowing users to talk to people using Google Talk in the browser no matter that website they were viewing.

It is a shame that Google didn’t down right copy the fake which I had- because that would of really increased the users of Google Talk- which since I made the mock-up Google started neglecting the application.

Interested in making your browsing experience faster and more web-compliant? Download Chrome now!

At the end of the day I made my mock-up in a time were Google was a cuddly bear. But as the years go on- Google has become more powerful and this is why Google shouldn’t buy Twitter of FaceBook. Oh and the fact that Jaiku was good before Google rapped it.
