From the team which brought you Hotel Dusk and its upcoming sequel Last Window, comes a brand new IP which dips itself into an interesting world of mystery and adventure. Cing is back with Again, the Tecmo published point and click adventure game which plays and works in vain to many of Cing’s past Nintendo titles.

Cing seems to have a fixation on Hotel mysteries, after Hotel Dusk and its sequel, Again covers a mystery in a little hotel room, Room 315 dosn’t exactly have the ring has 215 did, but the mystery is as deep and meaning full as before.

Lets say 20 years ago (even though its 19 years ago) in this fictional world something horrible happened in said hotel. With this crazy person going around killing people in this room then randomly stopping to decide “heck I’m going to piss some people off and send some letters to the FBI who didn’t find me” or least thats the gist I’m getting from the story- anyway back to my ramblings, the guy sends this letter which has the same MO as the murder letter things, anyway it opens up the case again- and thats where the game starts.

Whats more is this guy has some unholy medium effect drilled into his brain which causes him to “remember” what the locations etc. looked like, gee great.

Anyway because of this he calapces on the job, so some random Hotel Worker dies because of him, and some random clues are left, etc. etc.

Basicly a typical murder mystery video game in vain to Hotel Dusk and Another Code.

Mircosoft has renamed there Phone brand to something snazzy and modern to try and appeal with the youngsters and people who think “lol Apple Cool”, essentially the idiots of the world.

Though they also have decided “lets keep appealing to who we currently appeal to as well”, and after a bunch of marketing talk- they also developed something appealing to people who want functionality and not a “candy phone” like say the iphone or android. Or a “me too” smart phone. Essentially they did the opposite and did something awesome in the end.

While they have also developed something awesome and new, they are basically looking at everything they have done up until now and said “not our problem”- while still giving the option for others if they want to develop their devices or applications around Series 7 to do so.

While a drunken slob might mistake the buttons as the world becomes a blur- the new style is promised to be customizable to the user, while still sticking the rude finger up at them and making them do what the OS wants them to do.

On the other hand, I do have some gripes, mainly because its pretty much “oh wwaaa everyone hates our design because its like the primative version of everyone elses shit” then they go and make something which everyone is going to hate anyway because “lolz its to futuristic/complicated”, but in general- I like it- I think I just went from having a meaning here to “wtf am I on about”. Oh well.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IOTrqlz4jo

Theres still heaps of things which are unclear- so until then I’ll just leave it as this, when something is asked at the moment the question is “MIX is the place to be”, so I guess that means until then information will be lacking- making this preview- pointless, yay!

We managed to get a hands on experience with the WashiForums Alpha. WashiForums is made by the same team which brought you White Crane.

For those who are familiar to White Crane, upon installation you will be greeted with the same simple design which was made famous by White Crane, gone is the deep blue colour scheme but now a lush green is dipped across this theme.

There are lots of bugs in the system which while its a great step in the right direction, it may be some time before we see it working across older versions of PHP rather then 5 which it was developed for. As well as a few design choices which so far limit what can be done.

The simple feature list is edit and delete of users posts. No-one can join unless the admin ads them so far and like White Crane the Admistrative panels are simple and easy to use.

From my knowledge the forum software uses the same theme set up as White Crane, so it would be easy to create themes for the forum software.

Like White Crane the forum posting system works like the Wiki URL system of White Crane- as well as typing in the header of the page you want created on the main page.

While there isn’t much to show and see, the system so far works in some degrees and in others no so. The sour taste after testing the forum software reminds the user that it is indeed an Alpha. With bugs appearing more and more as testing progressed.

It’s a step in the right direction and we look forward to seeing the final product or the next betas We have though concerns over security and the strengths of the system. Like White Crane – WashiForums doesn’t use mySQL.

So Bobs Game demo one came out either officially or non-officially- some how the world obtained it and now the world can say if it sucks or not.

So some background awhile ago this guy called Bob claimed to have made a game over the period of 5 years. After awhile he went crazy and did an over the top “Viral” campaign- which in the end resulted in this random demo.

Overall? Just like what people have said the past few days since Bob has been more open about what this gem contains- just Retro Game Challenge with a tacked on story.

Taking things as they come- I’m going to talk about the game from what I’ve played and not what Bob has hyped up his own mind.

So I put the game onto my DS and was like ‘mmm’ some load time, stupid warning label he’s attached which looks like it is done in paint. The rest of the text, menus and speech after that though seem very nice and sharp. But this warning label was just crap.

The demo was based around the first 5 seconds of Bobs game- with the mission been to find the batteries. Yes once I figured out that looking in boxes wasn’t going to find batteries and that switching the power off will make the brother run around like a little fag – I could then steal the batteries. That was semi alright- but then you get a bloody GameBoy (called a GameToy from Gantendo) and your mum nags you to go next door and play with the kid who should have one of these bloody toys (god only knows why she would think that). What more is she puts a fucking shock collar on – (wait for it) yuu. What a crazy bitch.

The rest of the demo ends up you braking into the kids house (if you want- iddno if you can, I didn’t try I went straight to the kid) but yeah once you get to the kid hes like “OMFG SOME STRANGER IS HERE” and then he’s like ‘your gay’ until you tell him your dad has an amusement park. Now your best friends forever and he makes you play tetris until you finish it. But this isn’t any normal tetris it is a bastardized version with missing bricks from the blocks and is hard as all hell. Did I mention I hate tetris?

Well once you do that the kid is like “not even the game developer could finish it” and then its over.

I suppose its a better outcome then what I thought was going to happen- especially with the brother. I thought the main character would just bitch to his mummy and get her to tell him off.

Also there are some random strange boxes in one of the rooms- a severed head and fertilizer as well as garbage bags? The fuck?

Potential Score: So-So

From what I’ve played today there is some potential to go above that and be a thumbs up- but if this is what the package feels and plays like for the whole game then this will be quite a disappointing but still semi good game.

What can I preview in the time it takes for dad to cook dinner and call is brother? I know Little King’s Story.

It’s been awhile since I bitched about people wanting evil games and telling them to buy something else- the soul purpose of a preview. But this time I dare say I have a reason- I’ve found a game which deserves some more recognition before its pushed out in mass regions around the globe from the end of April.

But the sad thing is I don’t really know much about this title- I dare say I’m going to hype it like crap only for the world to notice that I lied and it quite possibility could suck.

But some small background on the development, it was a few years back and someone decided it would be a good idea to group together a dream team. This consisted of guess who- Cing- yes that is the main reason why I know about this title. It also consisted of Marvelous Entertainment and Town Factory.

So this dream created some slur- what was it that they were working on? Would it be worth it? and the biggest question of all- Does my fanboy instinct want me to flap over the game?

Well it turns out it wasn’t flappable in a hot girl kind of way- but the dream team did put out with a title which has an interesting promise and a great fresh idea. Then someone decided WiiWare is a much quicker way to produce games and out came a total rip off of the concept in Square-Enix form.

Little King’s Story however does have an upper hand- while Square totally ripped out the idea of building and expanding a kingdom- Little King’s Story goes beyond that simple concept.

So after a freaky cow riding paedophile makes you into a king- you have to wonder what his motives are. But after you become king people have this weird feeling to follow you.

So after these people start their adventure of been slaves to a little kid you start to build up your kingdom by building objects and fighting monsters. In the end you get bored of your little village and decided to invade other peoples kingdoms and make a new world order.

So as your kingdom expands from a little shack in some old seedy mans province, in the end it becomes a magical kingdom.

Potential Score: Thumbs Up

If the dream team isn’t enough to make you want this title- then the expanded ideas and concepts which didn’t get converted into a small as title for WiiWare is.

A new section- we look at the games on the horizon as I feel like it- first up is Australian Developer Nnooo with its DS version of the legendary Pop.

Pop originally was released as a WiiWare title- it featured a small swag of game play options as well as a funky original pick up and play multiplayer.

The idea of pop is just that- pop some bubbles and to keep the challenge fresh, various power ups will help you pop more in different ways. There are also different challenge modes which change the game play again for example, with a timer.

When I played the Wii Version I was impressed at the time due to the small line up of WiiWare titles- and the pickup and play aspect of the title was so captivating.

Well while the game play hasn’t changed that much- its had more challenge modes added to it and has appeared on the iPhone as well. With developers looking to continue expanding the Pop brand as well as coming up with their next IP.

A sample look at the offers of the new DS version

POP+ Solo is a DSiWare version, which means it only works on the DSi and its a download title. Skimmed out of the title for launch is multiplayer- but the developers have added in another batch of modes to challenge you. One of them involves fighting bosses.

Tatio has announced another Space Invaders game. Tatio so far is the best with the licence…(Is it even a licence anymore?) with Space Invaders Extreme for the Nintendo DS been really fun online and offline.

The past Space Invaders games by developers I admit were sour and Tatio is here to turn things around. They have made some great games like Lost Magic for the DS.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Q6N-CmFxbi4/R9I94RfP4vI/AAAAAAAAAV4/wg-RYYfheYw/s400/taito25.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5175266958778557170" />

TREMBLE IN FEAR AT OUR THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SHIPS!

If you were wondering what you did in this version…

You are the Space Invaders and you distory shit in a Rampage like fasion.

“You are defeated. Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot where I was going to be. Muahahahaha!”

Which means I like it 10x as much ^_^

I hope this isn’t on Wiiware due to Nintendo’s retarded ‘You can’t take your games with you to other peoples Wiis and you can’t murge your account with other peoples Wii’s if they are in your own household’.

If its WiiWare it can STFU no matter how good it is…

Disaster: Day of Crisis boasts the best dam graphics the Nintendo Wii has ever seen. Sharp clear rain effects to evil disaster effects. Graphic hores this is your game.

Survive nature’s most devastating catastrophes in Disaster: Day of Crisis, a panic inducing survival game for Wii. In a devastatingly short period of time, an unprecedented wave of natural disasters has pummeled the United States. On top of this inexplicable series of disasters, a rogue special forces unit has taken advantage of the chaos and seized a nuclear weapon. Only Ray, a former member of an elite rescue task force, has decided to take a stand.

What I like is you have to survive it. Never said anything about saving America…

Posted: 4th December 2007

To get the idea of were are are coming from with this. A week ago Japanese magazine Famitsu lifted some information on the Nintendo Wii title. What many say to be a Animal Crossing clone. You control a caveman in a prehistoric life simulation. Your character will then find many different beasts and challenges where the players will have some choice in either been friendly and communicating or choosing to fight through the challenges in a more brutal manner. There are 150 pokemon to catch…wait no just 270 dinosaurs to see. Also rhythm-based fighting combat system which takes full advantage of the Wiimote. Lets hope this time it lives up to its name.

When it comes to the graphics the game features a cartoon style with day and night cycles. Just like Animal Crossing. You will also have up to four players been able to join in and share a settlement in the prehistoric habitat. This also features messaging features.

When it comes to the release date Japanese people will be able to play this title in March 2008. Everyone else later in the year at the best.

The game is developed by Spike. Who have worked on such other Wii titles such as Escape from Bug Island (Necro nesia) which could have been beter with just a bit more development time. Lets hope this game dosn’t go down that path.

The story is something along the lines of everyones happy. Bla Bla Bla. Mammoths attack. Bla Bla Bla. To finish it off now you must find out why and collect glitter stones.

This game is looking to be prommising and exciting. For those who want to see some screenshots go to this page.

Gaming Drink: All About One Game – Article 1

This Issue:

I’m quite pumped for this game. It looks good, it feels good, and personally I like the idea. But when it comes down to this title, there isn’t much information for it or there is and websites refuse to put it all up. This first issue of Gaming Drink finds all the information I can in a short 30min to write up an article in the same time to create a no.1 resource for the particular game at this point in time.

On the first of June 2007, The Ward got a publisher. The game also got a name change and became now known as Dementium: The Ward. The game is been developed by Renegade Kid. In general the title is a mature-themed survival-horror FPS for the Nintendo DS.

The general story is:

Dementium: The Ward tells the tale of a man who awakens to find himself alone in a mysterious, derelict hospital that is frozen in time. Confronted by the deadly, grotesque surgical experiments that wander the halls, a series of challenging puzzles and a cast of peculiar characters, he must face his deepest fears, unlock the mysteries of the hospital, and escape with his life. A completely new experience on the Nintendo DS, Dementium promises to creep you out with gory visuals and bone-chilling audio that brings the world screaming to life.

Dementium: The Ward features many plot twists to find out the truth of the ward

We were all hoping for multi-player. But from this point in time the feature has been cut out. Confirmation came from the blog post from Jools Watsham’s My1UP Page.

It has been a tough pill to swallow, and I know this next piece of info isn’t going to be easy for some people to swallow either, but to ensure the single player experience of The Ward is all that it must be, we have decided to cut the multi-player game mode entirely. This will allow us to focus all of our attention on making the core gaming experience shine, which in this case is the single player game mode. I truly believe this is the right thing to do, but I am sad that multi-player won’t make it into this version of The Ward. It is our hope that the single player game is enjoyed enough by people to warrant a sequel, which can feature a true multi-player experience. Sigh.

What if could of been:

The Ward supports local Wi-Fi multi-player game-play; offering a variety of different multi-player experiences including, Death-match, Survival and Claim the Brain game modes. Support for on-line is not yet decided.

What could have been…

When it comes to what influenced Dementium: The Ward, it has been said many movies, games etc. have molded the idea. Such as; Silent Hill, Doom 3 and Dawn of the Dead etc. Each had a interesting bit which the creator could have said ‘oh that sounds cool’.

Defending yourself against the creatures isn’t no biggy. With 8 weapons all together. Such as a flashlight, nightstick, shotgun, and electric bone-saw etc.

Interaction with surroundings isn’t as common with this title as what could have been. But if the game sells well more interaction could possibly be in a sequel of sorts.

The game is controlled similar to Metroid. With the bottom screen used to navigate through options and to look around. The microphone isn’t used in the title.

When that is what you find while your alone…

For those wondering how long the game will take to complete. It will take a good few hours. Not long, but 7 – 8 would end up been the average time frame.

With random monsters which you wouldn’t expect in a hospital and been a Indy game. We would love to see where this ends up.
