Ah Country Music Festival in Tamworth, how locals hate you. But they say “It brings in the dollars to our local economy”, its the time of year which fits convently in the Summer School Holidays, but if your a local you would be aware that now theres even a smaller more stupider version in Winter, and lets not forget about the other pointless versions of it through out the year which are not as big. Essentially, its Country Music all year round and it sucks.

Locals would be aware of one thing if they stayed, that over the years the “show” has been getting more and more commercial and degraded in quality. Apparently “free hat” gives the visitors a tingly feeling down stairs which makes them, run around Peel Street catching the hats flying from the Telstra Truck (note: I didn’t experience this first hand, so it could well be a lie, but I wouldn’t put it past them).

It seems each year I call for a great flood, but more and more it seems they are coming more and more earlier, which means they miss the festival all together. But one-day they will learn there lesson about putting there stuff on the waters edge.

“Even if you like Country Music, you would feel degraded by the quality of the new comers this year…”

Let’s go back to quality of the festival. Over the past few years I’ve adventured down for various activities during the festival and spied on the crazy people who for some bizarre reason enjoys the music played. The last few years have seen an influx of different types of music genres, not directly changing to something like Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal, but we are starting to see more types of music like Salsa for example, now this change was welcome, things like Jaba (Java?, Jakarta?), I commend, and welcome them to my town, but even if you like Country Music, you would feel degraded by the new comers of this year,  they act and sound like they have been in the Karokee Both at Strike drunk for too long then decided to perform on the street.

There was a duo of kids who decided to sing some Country Music down town, well its the festival I got nothing against them running around my streets singing songs, (the hate is more about the listeners and the music then the performers). But these kids seemed to have decided there music career will start after playing Sing Star all the time and going “l0l we can play musIc 2″, because they sounded like the typical Sing Star player, and that is crap. Now I would leave this note here and then move on, but it seems that these kids are going to get some sort of award at the Busker ceremonies (I can just bet), either in the top 3 or an “encouragement award”, well normally I’d say good on them for doing that to children, but when they plan out suck (like the past few who have achieved these awards when they are only 3 foot tall) I say fuck off and don’t give them anything, in fact slap them across the face and tell them they’d never account for anything- because clearly they wont. But then again, Country Music fans buy anything.

There are a few people I would commend this year, I was walking along Kable Avenue, and there was a huge “store” set up with some various people busking, now all in this store area there where people singing and shit with people watching, now as soon as I got out of this area and walked a few meters, there was this old guy, just singing, and no ones watching him, you know- hes keep going even though hes not really signing that loud, essentially to himself. But you know, hes keep going even though hes obviously not the best, so I commend him for that. Who ever he was. Least I know he was better then those blood little brats.

I haven’t been down during the night life in the festival as I have past years, but I haven’t heard as much echoing through the city at night time. It seems night time has died down, maybe as well with the festival.

I’m all for some t-shirts which say “I’m a local, I should take priory” and other local-suprimist shirts. The people we let in to this festival seem to be degrading as well, its like we took all the bad drivers in the major cities and shoved them into Tamworth for a month.

I’m pretty sure if this was a more general music festival, not only would it work better, the whole atmosphere would just improve. Or least get the main attractions off the streets and into areas away from the streets so people can do shopping or other erands with out having to weathe through people just sitting on the road or footpath watching the busker’s.

Or maybe thats just a crazy rant…

Note 1: Word Press, or Google Chrome, or whatever controls the spell check thinks “Tamworth” is a spelling mistake. lol.
Note 2: This is humerious “opion” by the author and not meant to be taken seriously or offencivly.
