Last saturday was 95c cheeseburger day at the local Burger King! So $28.50 later we ended up with two trays totaling 30 cheeseburgers. We ate them all. Eventually. It was a pretty good effort mind you, out of the five of us who ate them (two of us ended up going all out) we only went home with 6. That night 4 more where eatten by my brother. Crazy!
Gaming Drink: All About One Game – Article 1
This Issue:

I’m quite pumped for this game. It looks good, it feels good, and personally I like the idea. But when it comes down to this title, there isn’t much information for it or there is and websites refuse to put it all up. This first issue of Gaming Drink finds all the information I can in a short 30min to write up an article in the same time to create a no.1 resource for the particular game at this point in time.
On the first of June 2007, The Ward got a publisher. The game also got a name change and became now known as Dementium: The Ward. The game is been developed by Renegade Kid. In general the title is a mature-themed survival-horror FPS for the Nintendo DS.
The general story is:
Dementium: The Ward tells the tale of a man who awakens to find himself alone in a mysterious, derelict hospital that is frozen in time. Confronted by the deadly, grotesque surgical experiments that wander the halls, a series of challenging puzzles and a cast of peculiar characters, he must face his deepest fears, unlock the mysteries of the hospital, and escape with his life. A completely new experience on the Nintendo DS, Dementium promises to creep you out with gory visuals and bone-chilling audio that brings the world screaming to life.

We were all hoping for multi-player. But from this point in time the feature has been cut out. Confirmation came from the blog post from Jools Watsham’s My1UP Page.
It has been a tough pill to swallow, and I know this next piece of info isn’t going to be easy for some people to swallow either, but to ensure the single player experience of The Ward is all that it must be, we have decided to cut the multi-player game mode entirely. This will allow us to focus all of our attention on making the core gaming experience shine, which in this case is the single player game mode. I truly believe this is the right thing to do, but I am sad that multi-player won’t make it into this version of The Ward. It is our hope that the single player game is enjoyed enough by people to warrant a sequel, which can feature a true multi-player experience. Sigh.
What if could of been:
The Ward supports local Wi-Fi multi-player game-play; offering a variety of different multi-player experiences including, Death-match, Survival and Claim the Brain game modes. Support for on-line is not yet decided.

When it comes to what influenced Dementium: The Ward, it has been said many movies, games etc. have molded the idea. Such as; Silent Hill, Doom 3 and Dawn of the Dead etc. Each had a interesting bit which the creator could have said ‘oh that sounds cool’.
Defending yourself against the creatures isn’t no biggy. With 8 weapons all together. Such as a flashlight, nightstick, shotgun, and electric bone-saw etc.
Interaction with surroundings isn’t as common with this title as what could have been. But if the game sells well more interaction could possibly be in a sequel of sorts.
The game is controlled similar to Metroid. With the bottom screen used to navigate through options and to look around. The microphone isn’t used in the title.

For those wondering how long the game will take to complete. It will take a good few hours. Not long, but 7 – 8 would end up been the average time frame.
With random monsters which you wouldn’t expect in a hospital and been a Indy game. We would love to see where this ends up.
You all know my idea for the future OS. But what about Mobile phones? These days we only have 2 kinds. Mobiles and Smart Phones. As more and more phones become ‘smart phones’ just phones are becoming the thing of the past such as the creation of mobile phones themselves.
So my idea for a mobile phone 2.0? Check this out:-
These days phones are alcomplicated, they need to be simplised. A huge touch screen and a few small buttons on the bottom should be things like quick links. Such as to games, music, contacts etc.
This alows a qwerty keyboard down for ringging people and typing stuff (sms, internet etc.) and games.
Having a OS for a phone such as this, makes it dubble as a PDA and become a smart phone.
Then adding buttons on the ‘desktop’ alows links to things such as ‘Music’, ‘Games’, ‘Messages’, ‘Internet’, ‘IM’ etc.
Now I’m going to talk abit about the features it should have.
The next generation of phones should have a GPS inside them, this will be more clear with my next idea. But the GPS could be used as a dubble for your Car GPS or if your using a IM system have it as your private message ie. ‘I’m currently – Traveling on the New England Hwy’.
It should also have a camera in the back, but have it so you take a picture of yourself and use as a ‘profile image’ each phone would have a profile. Then you will also have a ‘personal ava’ which will be shown on the OS anywere.
Now to clear up the GPS idea:-
The GPS will be used to ‘beam’ your location if you ring a emergancy number. It will also have quick dial to police etc. for your emergancy. This saves time etc. when having to say ‘where you are’, ‘your emergancy’ etc. Just say or type them when clicking onto a item.
