Gah another day, another set of meaning less articles for you to read to get the morning started. A passion I say of mine. Making articles with spelling mistakes and other meaning less icons. Only to then iconicly rip onto the Gaming Industry with ideas and cridisem, when I can’t even take my own. Oh well.

As a second article this morning, I diving into an area I hardly know nothing about. An area which I’m even to young to face. But the idea is on this blog, to advenutary cover almost every possible topic there is about the Gaming Industry and more.

I’m talking about none other than Employment Issues and how many new Indy Developers lack the passion needed to create possible hit sellers, with dividing remarks from the competion because they didn’t do it first.

Firstly I will speak about the past. In the era when Video Games where new, many people started small companies because of the following factors.

1# They where geeks or nerds who knew nothings about anything else, rather than huge complex code which rides itself on the nerdy remark for Video Gamers and Computer users seen today.

2# They had rich parents so they could easily buy their way into the industry.

3# They where weird and deranged and didn’t want a proper job, so they used their dangerous hobby of ripping things apart and making small coding to make mini games of that era.

How do I know this? Lets see, if you decided to learn about small popular games, or the beginnings of many companies of that time. Many where made in someone’s shed.

A beginning, which many now in this era, see as stupid and pefectic. But now the same thing isn’t happing with Video Games, more of future tecnogly to fix small problems many of us made to begin with.

Now onto the topic of video games these days, games are no longer been made in peoples sheds and now been designed and created in hi-tech buildings, with many staff to do lots of jobs. And if your an Indy developer? like these people I talked about from the 80′s? Well you now have to work your but of 10x harder just to make a game, then its another 90x harder to get a publisher for the game, and then even more harder to make sure it sells well.

So when your an Indy developer, you lack the development kit needed these days, and when the only people who are helping you are for friends, and even then they know nothing about coding or anything like that. Just remember how easy it was in the 80′s to get into the Industry, and how now its almost impossible. Kinda of an exclusive clan.

Now the hard part, many Indy developers say they have the passion etc. to make the games, but fail to deliver golden titles, NIRBIS seems they might, but its hard to tell, as its hard for a Indy to reach a golden gold these days, the project might be good or might be chucked with a bad publisher and be bad.

Note: an intresting note is from when this had an older blog on Another Code Labs, a post said:
It’s actually easier to get in at the same time, because there are more opportunities to learn various types of programming.
I say, so true, but it is hard if you don’t know programing and want to get in and be a artist, or a story designer.

These days games are fads, a big fad was the domanent GTA style genure which is still reaking haviok on how the older gamers and older people in general view video games.

Now a new fad has snuck in, which is the puzzle games back into rain, with more and more gaming companys producing non-games and puzzle games. Popluarty is getting more and more onto them.

But in the bushes and silant by developers, a select few eat on, a small genure popluarty called simuations. After the sim genure died out allmost due to the re-producing of many The Sims games which all the same to mutch, developers desided to catch on with the simuation genure with a few continuing and making new survival and farming sim games.

But the problem dosnt lie there. Many simuation games which are survival games or farming simuations, are quite fun. Oh no…its the fact…their either to basic or bloody to dam unrealistic.

Many developers, if they set their mind to it, could create quite intresting, fun games which seem more realistic rather than dull and boring repeaditive games.

Games in the Survival Kids series, have many things in common, and while good games. Lack realistic islands and design. If you search and scan over many parts of the Lost in Blue island. You will notice many fruits grow in locations which just wont work on an island, I know there are other types of islands, but most of the fruit seems to be ‘human made/ european’ meaning carrots, and other fruits, which would have been genticaly made or brought over by Europeans if the island exisited in real life. The fruit I speek rashes across all the island, and because the tribe which exists on the ruins of the island, could only have lived 1000′s of years ago, and with the fact the island dosnt seam quite European, and more American influcnced in design. It leads the fact that the guy in the warehouses brought over the potoatos because he has a private stash and sneaky man character who by having to camp out on the base has to eat the small range of potato on the back of a building.

Basicly saying, many survival games dont have the tarain or shadows or realistiness to accarly be a work of art. Though the games are great, many lack the influnce of a simple more created by ideas sporning rather than ideas from past games, continuing a story which laps into a deep idea which wouldnt happen in todays modden world.

To fix survival games?
1# A more realistic landing if its on a island, these days boats if they crash, people will be there to help you as soon as possible. Its also more llikly for a plane or helicopter to crash than a boat also these days.

2# Shadows, yes I know it seams werid but things like shadows ad deaph to the location and suroundings.

3# Birds and flowers- there needs to be more flowers and birds, which while not editable you can look and see as if they grew on the island natuarly. They should also be interactive, meaning you can search in the plant for grubs or stuff like that to fish with ect.

4# More relastic plot – a gang on an island? Sounds like some corrny Home and Away plot, developers need to realise that chaning the plot to suit more modden life, could help them alot in making the series better.

5# Landscape. There needs to be more viratly, or less, deaping on where the island is ment to have been set, the conditions and things like caves which lead around the base of the island.

6# Water- what I hate is the fact in SK you can’t cross the water unless its a curtian time, in a perfect world you should be, and if its to rought, you would be just sweept to the right area.

When fad genures are bought, the genure becomes stronger, now with the inlightment of smaller sleeperhits, such as the Survival Genure and the Farming Simualation Genure. I look into all genures, to see what is wrong with the most popluar in that genure.

Last night I riped through and talked about Survival Games, now its all about Farming Simuations. The crust of the simuations which is probably one of the most strongest and popluar Farming Simuation, I’m talking about none other than Harvest Moon.

If you are all fimaular with the series, than thats fine. The article can stop now, can I can just complain about the series and define whats wrong in a gamer point of view. But many people are not, so sadly I must talk about the series.

Harvest Moon is basicly a popluar farming sim, in which you rasie cattle and all that, as well as plant ramdom food crops to satisfy the needs of the dull and boring villages or the even more probably ‘no exisitent’ city fok, which are allways talked about by your friend/helper/some ramdom person someone you know/in your famly knew.

But what the series and the genure are dieing from is…its getting more and more like Animal Crossing.

The latest title in the HM series, divied what was farming into what is known as Animal Crossing, another game which dips into many simuation genures and laps up popluarty almost as quick.

While there is nothing wrong with Animal Crossing, a genure in the sim series which is hardly even like Animal Crossing, becoming like Animal Crossing is something to worrie about.

Some ideas taken from AC worked out well for the series, such as allowing your character to have a farm in 3 diffrent locations, have more choice in where buildings and such are. As well as be a girl or boy in one title rather than a special ‘girl version’.

But the sad thing is, the game, rather than having its own art/graphic style which it had from a few PlayStation titles is becoming more Animal Crossing by itself, with the cartoony kiddie animal, pokiey style of graphics allmost which Animal Crossing is famous of.

Well thats anough babing about the series, I dont want to wreck its greatness. Now how to fix the series/genure/i dont know :-

1# Needs more character deepth. Playing the current range of farming simuations you will notice the lack of deepth with the other characters unless they are going to marry you, or if you go to there shop to by some food or what ever they sell/have.

2# Needs more locations for farms. I say…all of the ones I have played and even the upcomming ones, lack a good ammount of areas to have your farm. Heck even the town is static, so when your farm insnt there its just empty land.

3# Needs more landscape. Going on from the dry land ect. There needs to be more landscape, such as caves and other areas in which lead to intresting areas of land formation where edvents could happen.

While there dosnt seem like many I have colplained about, there probably is more. Besides that today I’m giving two articles so I need my brain for them :)
