M+15…for Another Code: 2 Memories WTF
This time, instead of righting an article on something productive, I complain about AC: 2 Memories been M+15 in Australia, if it’s true, someone somewhere has to pay.

This started as a rumor for me, finding a usa site with an Australian boxart for the game just uploaded looking at the ratting I thought this has to be a joke. But Another Code is now listed on DVDcrave and other online shops as M+15.

Now if this is true, the rating system has failed, I see no way the rating can go through, unless its due to the story, but I have seen games ratted less with less of a story line like AC.

Another Code is an adventure/puzzle game; these types of games don’t get ratted with such idiotic ratings. The story of your mother been dead and your father missing dose not seem to be a story that would get such a high rating, there’s no adult stuff, no swearing and no blood. So how can it be M+15 unless it was because you go around with a dead person?

Of course this could all be a mistake and the game is accuracy ratted “PG” under the new system, which I believe would suit it more then M+15.

Lets see in Japan its got a low ratting in the UK 7 year olds can play it, but why the high ratting in Australia? It still doesn’t stop me getting it, but it shall see a lot of sales dropped because of old parents buying there children around the age of 8 a game for the DS or something like that, see the rating and faint and don’t consider it for there child.

Another Code is like Myst
When the first screens and information for Another Code appeared I thought hay that looks like Myst. Here are some ideas to back up my clam.

Point and Click
Both fall into the category of a point and click game. Another Code uses the Nintendo DS’s touch screen to click on an area to zoom in if there’s something interesting there and to solve puzzles. Myst uses the computers mouse to click on areas to advance to it, look, and to activate things.
Point and click is in both games and is used to a great length as I said before.

Books. Books and more books
In Another Code, you have books you need, bookshelves, and random piles of books. In Myst you have bookshelves, books and book some paper you need to put in them.

Issue 1 of the Round table – People involved
Trinest – Webmaster of Another Code Labs
The Real Link – Webmaster of Nintendo Universe

Topic: Our topic starts as next Generation gaming, but ends up as General gaming and trinest talking about how Australia gets ripped off in gaming.

Trinest: The PS3 and Xbox 360 have allot of information out on them…which makes…the Revolution seem a bit bad, but because Nintendo timed it right, people are waiting for more info, instead of giving up.
The Real Link: Yeah.
Trinest: Most people are only hanging on to Nintendo, as they wait for more information, then they decided if they want the system, but most have already decided out of the PS3 and Xbox 360, but there waiting for Nintendo’s ideas, then they will decided if they get a 360, ps3 or Revolution.
The Real Link: And what do you think of this?
Trinest: I always go for Nintendo. An Xbox 360 might be in this house at launch, but a Revolution, might be the first system we ever got a launch, the n64 we got when the Purple controller was out, and the GC we got 3 years ago.
The Real Link: I think we need a different topic.
Trinest: Clearly
Trinest: you chose this time
The Real Link: lol
Trinest: I chose..Hmm…okay
Trinest: General Gaming, the current prices, expectations and other stuff in gaming.
The Real Link: Ok.
Trinest: My gamecube…it sits over there with no games..expet around 12 because of the huge price we pay in AUS.
The Real Link: I have over 40. But then again that is all I really ever buy.
Trinest: because you pay $30 for your games
Trinest: and $50 new
Trinest: I have to pay $50 players choise $99 New
The Real Link: No, I usually get them new.
Trinest: Ture, but 40×50 comes out alot better than 40×100
The Real Link: Yeah, but you are forgetting the currency exchange rate.
Trinest: so true, but we still get allot ripped off
Trinest: *cough AUS $1 = 77.95 usa cents*
Trinest: Not $1 = 50.00 cents
The Real Link: Ok.
The Real Link: That must hurt.
Trinest: it dose
Trinest: I cant afford a game until 10 weeks after I get one, because I only get $5 a week.
Trinest: DS games RRP is $69
The Real Link: For all of you just tuning in the subject is now the about how Australian get ripped off.
Trinest: so true…
Trinest: As for good games, my collection has hardly any
The Real Link: Now that is sad.
Trinest: Out of the 12 GC games only 7 I probly got for $93
The Real Link: And I am going to have to seriously edit this thing when we are done.
The Real Link: By the way, player’s choice is 20 dollars here.
Trinest: See what I mean
Trinest: You get a good bargen..I don’t
The Real Link: Sorry about that.
Trinest: *blames john Howard and his policy to put more nuclear power plants into the country*
The Real Link: Who is that?
Trinest: Our PM <.<
The Real Link: Oh.
Trinest: he needs to retire he’s like 60 something
Trinest: Recently we got a new Video game ratting system
The Real Link: Cool.
The Real Link: The ESRB?
Trinest: no
Trinest: that’s what USA has
The Real Link: Yeah, so what do you have?
Trinest: That’s what I’m looking for
Trinest: but there really nice and colourful now
The Real Link: Ok.
Trinest: http://www.oflc.gov.au/special.html?n=175&p=134
Trinest: Before we only had G, PG and M for video games
Trinest: that’s why allot of games were refused classification
The Real Link: We have E, E 10+, T and M
Trinest:: I know
Trinest: and an R+18 not in AUS were one of the main reasons why most games didn’t get classification
Trinest: if you go to the UK you have a different system again
Trinest: and Japan also has a different system
The Real Link: Ok.
Trinest: Zelda will get a G or a PG..in AUS..
Trinest: What about for you?
Trinest: E or T?
The Real Link: I am thinking it will get a T. Super Smash Brothers Melee got that. They may give it an E 10+, but that I doubt. The more realistic the graphics the more likely it gets a T for teen.
Trinest: Super Smash Bros. Melee was a G 8+ here
The Real Link: Yeah, I think them giving it a T rating here was crazy. I mean I have seen more violence in a Looney Tune and that is G rated.
Trinest: so ture.
Trinest: I expect more from Zelda, so maybe PG in our new ratting system
The Real Link: Yeah this will be the first time it doesn’t get an E rating here.
Trinest: I sore a boxart for Another Code: 2 Memories I don’t know if it was fake or not, but it was the UK box with M+15 for the ratting, I’m like WTF that’s why its not up on my site.
The Real Link: lol
Trinest: Seriously how dose Another Code get an M+15 ratting
Trinest: That’s why I ruled it out as fake
The Real Link: For those in the US Another Code is called Trace Memory.
Trinest: I can’t wait till Lost in blue comes out
Trinest: a good September game.
The Real Link: I can’t comment on that.
Trinest: But When Online for the Nintendo DS comes out…that shall be greater
The Real Link: Yes. That will be a very good and big day for Nintendo handhelds.
Trinest: November is going to be big
Trinest: but only 2 Nintendo online games
The Real Link: More will come in time. I am glad they are not rushing things. Like Mr. Miyamotto said, .” A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever”
The Real Link: A rushed game is usually bad.
Trinest: Wise words
Trinest: But for launch…it seems sad that’s there’s only going to be around a total of 5 online games from November till Christmas
The Real Link: Well, 2006 will be when the DS really starts to get more online games. I can wait.
Trinest: Final Fantasy anyone?
Trinest: Animal Crossing is going to be the online game of this year.
The Real Link: That and Mario Kart DS.
Trinest: Mario Kart is good, but most will be getting Animal Crossing for been a good online RPG
The Real Link: Yeah. I think they will be good.
Trinest: both will be good invative online games
Trinest: I’m disappointed that Metroid at the moment isn’t online
Trinest: Multiplayer would be good Online
The Real Link: Yes. That is disappointing. It would have been fun.
Trinest: yes, but maybe Nintendo might work on a second Metroid game one day and make it online
Trinest:maybe the side scrolling 2d one in the works is Online?
The Real Link: Let’s hope so. Metroid has become very popular thanks to the Prime series.
Trinest: How far do you think Nintendo will advance Pictochat for online?
The Real Link: Well, I have a feeling they may make it into a PDA like program.
Trinest: I wouldn’t mind it to be online, coloured text and more like a PDA.
The Real Link: That what I would like with maybe a word program and internet browser. I doubt they will go that far but think of the possibilities.
Trinest: PSP has an Internet Browser
The Real Link: The touch screen would work well.
Trinest: homes brew tho
Trinest: but working
The Real Link: But who needs that stuff. If you need that get a PDA.
Trinest: so true

DS.vs.PSP

A DS vs. PSP article, you say OMG, there always basset towards either systems or ether one. But this article is going to be different were going to be looking at both systems in different ways.

Say if it was a pokemon battle, one trainer will send out a Nintendo DS the other a PSP. The DS will attack first, by smashing the PSP in-between both of the Nintendo DS’s two screens, the PSP will then attack the DS with its backlight.

True this look at things isn’t what you expect, nor would I. But the DS and the PSP will never win, compare graphics, almost the same, yes almost the same, the PSP’s graphics are still pixilated and don’t look as good as PS2 graphics like most people say.

For all those Sony fans out there, pick up a DS and same thing for all those Nintendo fans pick up a PSP. You would learn that there are strengths and weaknesses in both systems.

The PSP wins for the graphic part, its clear it would, but for all those fans out there saying its got PS2 graphics, it doesn’t, if it dose then the PS2 must have the weakest power of all current home console systems. Now look at the DS graphics, it is great for a handheld, it doesn’t over power the system and it’s stable.

For sound I haven’t seen or herd what the PSP can do in that category, but I believe both systems can do equal sound.

Screen Size and Brightness goes to the DS. The PSP’s screen is too big, and takes up a lot of the system.

I would always take a DS at my local shop, because with Sonys latest policies I think I would be better off with a DS.

We look at – NOaus
Nintendo of Australia is quite fond of been insulted, gored out, and plans by fans to over run the company and run it themselves. They also seem to like TBA release dates, a lot.

If you look back to the n64 days we were still been “robbed” by Nintendo but it wasn’t as bad, as soon as the GC came out in 2001, shops were trying to discontinue it. Almost each week a catalog will come to my door, saying a shops name and what there selling, as usual the catalog featured the Nintendo Gamecube on the front cover, on in the section on the back, with a lower price then the other shops around town. Nintendo might think this is great marketing, but a few months ago a site I go to which is Australian listed the GC having 50% sales, when I went to my bigw (the shop it was all at) the GC section had been eaten up by the Nintendo DS section which was moved to were the GC games were, the only selection I had was a few games which no one wants to pick up and say “OMG I SO WANT THIS GAME”.

Then only last week the catalog mentioned 50% off again on GC goods, I go to bigw and what do I find, no GC games, and all the priced off games are in a little small box container near the counter, I didn’t like what was there so I just picked up LoZ NES classic edition for my GBA when I was there.

I then went home and about 3 days latter I started righting this article. Sounds fun? No it doesn’t now back to the article. When the DS came out and before it I never sore a single ad for the Nintendo DS, never, unless it was on the kiddy times after school and before school when there is kid shows on, trust me that isn’t the market you want.

Nintendo need to realize that the market isn’t children anymore there adults, but then you say “why do children have Xbox’s or ps2′s?” its because they have shooting, violent games that are fun and entertaining, not some pink fluffy cat, which eats flowers for the highest violence.

Well Nintendo doesn’t really have that, but it’s just in related to other systems.
Nintendo of Australia’s website is the worst Nintendo site in comparestent to information. There completions are floored because I never win anything (only once but it was out of 1000 people >.<), and all the game dates are wrong, lets see Star was DS, still is listed as coming soon with a October date, when its been out for a few weeks now.

Well this is what NOaus needs to do:
- Get more people on that website
- Make it so I win something
- Rember there is a Australia like your name suggests “NO = No AUS = Australia”.
So rember Nintendo of Australia stands for “There is no Australia doesn’t give us anything people want”.
