One of our new articles, today were talking about the dead gaming state that’s in Australia.
Ages ago, you could rent any range of the current consoles out, this generation, its only ether PS2 or rarely Xbox games.
These days you can also hardly find any handhelds or Nintendo gaming items in shops that have Computer and Electrical goods. To get these you ether have to go to shops like K-mart or live were you have an EB or live in busier towns were there is a higher range of demand for video games.
Now you may be calling me crazy because I live in some deserted town were only I have a DS. That’s true, but the gamming state isn’t that good in places I visit which are on the coast which has the demand for video gaming. I go to places on the coast, and I see in the holidays when most people are with there kids buying video games at shops only 4 – 5 people in EB not counting the people that work there. This is a very small amount if you look at how many people are at this shopping complex.
Now I’m thinking another possibility, it’s the video game company who should be blamed for this. In USA or Europe, you have a shop for Nintendo games only then 3 more gaming shops in a wide range of areas than in places were there’s very little people. Now look at Australia, poor advertising, hardly any video game shops, and poor game range. No wonder it isn’t strong here.
The gaming industry here isn’t the only thing; it’s the people that buy the games. Because there is hardly any advertising the word doesn’t get around as much.
Now don’t that thank I’m only talking about Nintendo here, Sony has ads, but you hardly see them no more, and Microsoft’s ads are no where to be found, and that’s if there is any. Advertising is one a key element on getting your product sold, no advertising means little word about your product unless it’s talked about online, but then still hardly anyone buys it. It’s as if the gaming industry in Australia has just given up.
Back in the n64 days, things were bad but it wasn’t as bad, because then there was advertising but very little, and that was when I was little and watched TV a lot.
If things don’t improve soon, I expect you will only be able to find games in towns were there the demand, k-mart and other shops like it will start to decreases in there stock of video gaming. Soon there entertainment sections will be only DVD’s and the odd video game. But at lest that’s along way from now though it dose look bad now.
